West Ham are weighing up whether to make a January loan move for Asmir Begovic.

According to a report in The Standard the Hammers want to bring in the Chelsea back-up keeper to help solve the problems of a leaky defence that lost five goals at the weekend at home to Arsenal.

Adrian and Darren Randolph have had stints in goals for Slaven Bilic’s side without either keeper looking convincing.

Begovic has been restricted to playing in the EFL Cup this season with West Ham ending that option with a 2-1 win over Chelsea in October.

With only the FA Cup and Premier League to play for in the new year Chelsea may be willing to let the keeper go out on loan rather than lose match sharpness.

With Thibaut Courtois has still to commit his long term future to Chelsea Antonio Conte won’t consider a permanent deal for Begovic even though Chelsea could recoup the £8m fee that they paid Stoke City in July 2015.

Despite being out of favour at Chelsea Begovic has remained first choice keeper for Bosnia.
