Spurs open talks with Alderweireld over new deal

|

Tottenham are set to give Toby Alderweireld a massive pay hike.

Last week Harry Kane and Jan Vertonghen signed new contracts with The Standard revealing that the Belgian internationalist has opened talks over a new deal.

Spurs moved swiftly last summer to sign Alderweireld from Atletico Madrid after impressing on a loan deal at Southampton.

The moves to sign the 27-year-old up onto a new contract is independent of claims that there is a £25.4m get out clause in his current Spurs deal.

Football Leaks made that get out claim but Spurs responded by stating that none of their players have a get out clause.

The details were published in the Belgian newspaper Le Soir which claimed that his current deal is worth £50,000/week and runs to 2020.

Although time is on Tottenham’s side putting Alderweireld onto a new deal worth north of £70,000/week will keep any predators at bay- for the time being.
