Valdes

According to reports from Eurosport this evening, ostracised goalkeeper Victor Valdes has been registered in Manchester United’s 25-man Premier League squad.

The former Barcelona star signed for the Red Devils on a free transfer in January and had been tipped to succeed David De Gea as the club’s No.1 amid rumours of a big-money move to Real Madrid.

But in July, manager Louis van Gaal made the shock declaration that the Spain international would be placed on the transfer list after refusing to represent the club’s U21 side, telling reporters; “He doesn’t follow my philosophy. There is no place for someone like that.

After a late summer move to Besiktas fell through, however, it appears Valdes is back in first team contention once again at Old Trafford – along with David De Gea, whose long-awaited Real Madrid switch collapsed at the final hour.

Van Gaal didn’t register Valdes in his 25-man squad for the Champions League but has included him in his Premier League squad – meaning he’ll be available for selection domestically until at least the January transfer window.

The whole squad is as follows: Daley Blind, Michael Carrick, Matteo Darmian, David De Gea, Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera, Sam Johnstone, Phil Jones, Will Keane, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Marcos Rojo, Sergio Romero, Wayne Rooney, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Chris Smalling, Victor Valdes, Antonio Valencia, Guillermo Varela, Ashley Young.
