Simon Kjaer

As reported by Ligue1.com yesterday morning, centre-back Simon Kjaer has played down reports suggesting he could be on his way to the Premier League this summer.

The Danish international has been in fantastic form for Lille this season, earning an average rating of 7.43 from stat enthusiasts Whoscored.com, and was once on the radars of Liverpool and Arsenal – as reported by Goal.com.

Neither a move to Wolfsburg in 2010 and or a loan stint at Roma in 2011 saw Kjaer produce his best form, but at the age of 26, he’s now beginning to truly show his worth in the French top flight, amid his second campaign at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

That’s lead some to suggest Kjaer’s former suitors could reconsider a swoop for their one-time target, especially as he enters the final two years of his contract this summer and verges upon the 50-caps mark for the Danish national team.

The defender has refuted such claims however, recently telling reporters; “I have been in Lille for two years now. I am happy here, I feel good, and my family do too. I am focusing on having a good finish to the season for LOSC.”
