Whilst most of us fans can wax lyrical about the detrimental effects that the influx of money has had on the game we love, that doesn’t quite tell the whole story. The truth is, we love to watch the very best players working their magic in the Premier League.
Had oil-money not seeped its way to the top of the Premier League, ruining it for all the ‘smaller’ sides, we wouldn’t have got to see so many of the players who have become household names over the last decade.
Of course, Chelsea and Manchester City fans wouldn’t be quite so insufferable, but that’s the price you have to pay to watch the very best do their thing, week-in, week-out.
In football, money talks. It produces a magnetic pulse, that seems to track onto the metallic studs of football’s brightest and best. It’s the reason why the Premier League can put forth a genuine claim to being ‘the world’s best League’, with only La Liga coming close.
As things currently stand, it’s not hard to produce a list of players who I’d love to see in the Premier League. Not in order of preference, nor likelihood: Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani.
That last man, Napoli’s highly-rated striker, may well end up switching to the Premier League this summer. His Uruguyan team mate, Luis Suarez has been trying to entice him into a move. Cavani recently told the Press: “When I speak with Luis he speaks with admiration about Liverpool and the Premier League. He even encourages me to play in England“. (Source: Daily Mail)
