Journalist Dean Jones has said that West Ham could make an attempt to sign Hugo Guillamon.
The 22-year-old has seemingly caught the eye of those at the London Stadium having become a regular in the Valencia side in recent seasons.
A defensive midfield player, Guillamon has started 10 of the club’s 12 La Liga games this season.
Following a recent report from 90min suggesting that the Hammers have begun to scout across Europe for a midfielder with doubts over the future of both Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek, Guillamon could be on their radar.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said:
Have you been happy with the scouting at West Ham recently?
Yes
No
“I don’t know too much about this one, but certainly it seems like a player that they will probably be looking for.
“It’s not an obvious one that the top five or six will be looking at, but you can imagine that that situation will change soon if he continues to improve at the rate he’s been improving at. So, I think it’s one to look out for.”
TIF Thoughts on Guillamon and West Ham…
According to Fbref the 5 ft 10 enforcer ranks in the top 8% of midfielders across Europe for clearances per 90 minutes (1.85) and in the top 14% for aerial duels won (1.74) despite his small stature.
Despite playing deep the three-cap Spain ace has managed three assists already this term in La Liga.
That comes after failing to register one last season highlighting the improvements he has made in his game as Jones pointed out.
However, it does remain to be seen whether the Irons will look to make a move and we feel they will continue to track his progress before deciding to commit to a deal.
