Simon Jordan believes that Tottenham Hotspur transfer target James Maddison would be good enough to play for the north London outfit.
Despite his current side Leicester City struggling to hit their stride this season with zero wins under their belt and being dismantled by Tottenham as Antonio Conte’s side picked up a 6-2 win, Maddison has been impressing with four goal involvements already.
Maddison, who has called himself a ‘big player’, was linked with the likes of Newcastle United and Tottenham over the summer, and after being left out of the latest England squad, the midfielder has become a hot topic amongst the media.
Jordan has been speaking on TalkSport’s YouTube channel about Maddison and whether he’s good enough to play for a club such as Spurs.
“I think he could play in Tottenham’s side, I think he could play in Arsenal’s side – if Arsenal are considered to be a top-six side other than just the temporary position that they’re in now, and that may not be the long-term position they stay in.
Should Spurs sign Maddison in January?
Yes!

No!

“He’s a good player, and I think he’s maturing and I think there’s less Jack Dash about him and the sort of smug, David Bentley sort of attitude that I felt he had at one particular point.
“He’s a good player in a bad side in terms of the way Leicester are playing at this moment in time.
“I think James Maddison has all the talent to go up a level and go into a ‘big six’ club and perform at that level.”
TIF Thoughts on Maddison’s ability…
Given that Tottenham have often struggled to break down teams this season – they required late intuition from Richarlison to help them past Nottingham Forest, a late Harry Kane strike against Fulham and also fell to defeat away to Sporting without scoring – Maddison could be a great option, especially if he can keep performing at a ‘world-class’ level, which is where Danny Simpson thinks he’s at.
However, he wouldn’t come cheap, so would likely be a target for next summer given that Tottenham have already splashed out over £150m on new signings this season and Maddison is likely to cost close to £60m, if not more.
This is because Newcastle saw two bids rejected for the midfielder over the summer which were said to be around the £50m mark, and now, his early-season form is only likely to have increased his market value in the eyes of the Foxes.
