Ronaldo Vieira has revealed that he had no doubts in his mind when putting pen to paper on a new four-year Leeds deal.

Vieira, 18, agreed his third contract in less than a year on what was Italian owner Andrea Radrizzani’s first day in complete control of the Yorkshire giants.

Speaking to Leeds’ official Twitter account on Friday, Bissau-born midfielder Vieira claimed it was easy to extend his stay at Elland Road after establishing himself as a key member of the team this season.

“It feels great. It is something I have been working on since I was born, really. Now, to stay with Leeds for another four seasons after the season I’ve had is unreal, unbelievable – I’m delighted with it,” Vieira said.

“It was easy to put pen to paper; happened quite quickly. I had a good season with Leeds and enjoyed it, so why not? I hope the next four years will be just as good.”

Making 38 league and cup appearances, the form of Leeds’ number 25 has not gone unnoticed on the international stage and Vieira has now been called up to England’s Under-20 squad to take part in the Toulon Tournament.

The former Benfica youth player broke into the starting eleven after making his debut in the last game of the 2015-16 season, and has since starred alongside captain Liam Bridcutt in the middle of the park.

Highlights of Vieira’s season included scoring the winning spot kick in a penalty shootout against Norwich in the EFL Cup, before striking a long-range effort against the same side to win late on in a 3-2 league win.

The midfielder will be hoping he and his side can go one better next time around as they look to end Leeds’ 13-year stay outside of the Premier League with promotion from the Championship.
