Many Newcastle United fans greeted the Florian Lejeune injury update tweet with excitement.
After suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in April, Lejeune has now played in the Premier League 2 with the U23’s.
The 45 minutes against Middlesborough U23’s was the Frenchman’s first competitive game of the season, meaning it’s likely he’ll need a couple more outings before being fully fit.
One fan went as far to say: “Brilliant to see, Toons no.1 defender back in the ball game”. Now they may be getting a little over-excited, as Jamaal Lascelles is in fine form at the moment, which includes scoring last time out.

What Do We Think?
With Newcastle failing to keep a clean sheet in their last two matches, the news of a returning centre-back will give the Magpie’s fans something to cheer about.
Lejeune is going to have tough competition when slotting back into the side, with Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernandez all being used against Wolves in a 5-4-1 formation. But with the apparent backing of the fans, it shouldn’t be too long till the Frenchman makes his return.
