These Newcastle United fans aren’t keen on the latest Jonjo Shelvey contract extension talks coming from the Chronicle Live.
According to the exclusive report by Chronicle Live: “Newcastle United are working on the offer of a major contract extension for midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.”
Despite some of the fans being unhappy with this news, if you go by average WhoScored ratings Jonjo Shelvey has been Newcastle United’s best player so far this season. The midfielder is still only 27-years-old, so he’s definitely a player the Magpies should be keeping hold of.
Here’s what the NUFC fans had to say about the contract extension rumours:

Would you like to see Jonjo Shelvey's contract extended?
Yes

No

The English midfielder has scored four goals in his last 10 games, that’s a very good return considering the role he plays at Newcastle.
Like a new signing story looming when we don’t get anyone else in the transfer window

Based on yesterday’s performance I wouldn’t bother.

Lazy, slow, bad attitude but sprays a good 70 yard pass so must be mint. A luxury our team can’t afford. Sell him and play longstaff in there and hopefully will find his form again.

What Do We Think?
The fans treatment of Jonjo Shelvey seems pretty harsh, considering he has been on of their top performing players all season and is also the Magpies top goalscorer. It was reported that Shelvey is “eager to be the main man at St James’ Park” so why would the fans want to let go of a player like that?
