These Newcastle United fans believe Javier Manquillo should have made it into Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week.
To see Alan Shearer not include Javier Manquillo in his Team of the Week was a big surprise to everyone. The Spaniard finished the match against Crystal Palace with a WhoScored rating of 7/10, but according to Shearer’s team, that wasn’t good enough to get into his side for this week.
Here’s what the Newcastle United fans had to say about Alan Shearer leaving Javier Manquillo out of the Team of the Week:
A Toon trio in @alanshearer’s Team of the Week!
Well played @PaulDummett, @HecoDubravka and Miguel Almirón! #NUFC https://t.co/8MzmmPcleX

Should be manquillo instead of dummett without a doubt don’t get how dummett has got in the team

Manquillo should of also been included!

Manquillo has been someone I’ve give stick in the past but he was superb at the weekend and is more deserving than dummett of a place

Love @alanshearer but he’s way off on his team with Dummett in there, he was shocking against Palace. Dummett looked tired and couldn’t cross a ball where as Manquillo should be there instead of Dummett, had Zaha in his back pocket and dominated the right hand side #NUFC

Who was better against Crystal Palace?
Javier Manquillo

Paul Dummett

Newcastle beat Crystal Palace 1-0, thanks to Miguel Almiron’s first goal of the Premier League season in the 83rd minute.
Manquillo for me definitely

Wrong defender imo. Should have been manquillo

What Do We Think?
At the end of the day, this is a very good problem to have; if your side is so competitive that you can argue about who should be in the Team of the Week and who shouldn’t, then your team is doing something right.
Both Javier Manquillo and Paul Dummett had solid outings against Crystal Palace, but it was Dummett that WhoScored rated higher in their post-match ratings, with the Welshman getting 7.2/10, that’s just 0.2 more than the Spaniard’s rating.
