Journalist Lee Ryder has praised Newcastle United defender Sven Botman for his ‘composed’ display in the club’s most recent game.
The Magpies were finally back in action after the break for the winter World Cup in Qatar as they hosted a Premier League rival in the Carabao Cup.
Indeed, Bournemouth came to visit but couldn’t leave with a positive result as Adam Smith’s own goal in the 67th minute settled the game 1-0 in favour of Newcastle, who are now into the last eight of the competition.
However, despite the win, Eddie Howe’s men still had to work hard to keep a clean sheet and it seems as though one defender really stood out. In his player ratings for ChronicleLive, Ryder gave Botman a 9/10 for his efforts.
He also wrote: “So composed. Read the game like an old pro, it’s hard to believe he’s still just 22.”
Will Sven Botman get himself back into the Dutch team after the World Cup?
