Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle has been a top transfer target for rivals Stoke City according to the Newcastle Chronicle and it is news that the fans have been waiting for as they reacted on social media.
The Newcastle faithful have had to endure just 6 goals in 35 appearances from the 27-year-old last season as they saw their club finish 10th in the Premier League under boss Rafa Benitez.
Stoke City have been pursuing their forward for some time now, as reported by the Daily Mail, but Benitez has stood firm to the Potters, revealing the Toon’s stance on Gayle.
The Spanish boss is said to be reluctant to sell him unless he can find a suitable replacement, meaning for now Gayle will remain at St James’ Park – much to the dismay to Newcastle fans on social media.
