A lot of Newcastle United fans are fuming at Matthew Longstaff’s contract situation.
The 19-year-old scored his third goal of the season in the Toon’s 4-1 win over Rochdale in the FA Cup, and he received praise from Mark Douglas, who believes that Newcastle need sort out his contract – as there will be no shortage of takers for him.
Do you believe Newcastle will sort Matthew Longstaff's contract?
Yes, they can't let him go

No, they will mess it up

This has irritated many Newcastle fans who believe that their club must sort out Matty Longstaff’s contract.
Big fan of Matty Longstaff. 19, three goals to his name. Excellent on Saturday and again tonight.#nufc are going to need to move on that contract. Won't be a shortage of takers.

If it was going to happen it would have by now. Club is a joke. Don’t buy experience/ proven talent. Won’t protect talented kids who land in their lap. God help the new lad from Scotland. Record is a joke on that front too. Pathetic #nufc

Biggest contract they need to sort out now. Happy to blow big money on untested players from abroad but messing about on a local kid who everyone can see is gonna be a big player in the next few seasons.

Why has it taken this long? You could see her had something about him in the summer, 6 months later and it’s still not resolved..

Ridiculous that his contact hasn’t been sorted by this point

Baffling how he’s not been signed up yet

They need to hurry up and get this sorted

This is absolutely essential and as soon as possible!

What do we think?
Matthew, the younger brother of Sean, has performed well in the matches that he has played for the Toon and has scored three goals in just nine appearances.
The first was on his debut against Manchester United, (1:38) and then he scored at Old Trafford on Boxing Day in a 4-1 defeat for his side. (0:30)
His latest was a superb piece of close control as he brought down a Matt Ritchie cross and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper. (0:50)
Matthew Longstaff clearly has potential, and the lad is a Newcastle fan – the Magpies would be stupid if they let him go.
