Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has admitted he was unhappy with both the performance of his side as well as the atmosphere at Wembley in the club’s 3-1 win over Leicester City on Sunday.
Goals from Davinson Sanchez, Christian Eriksen and Heung-min Son sealed the three points for Mauricio Pochettino and his men, with Jamie Vardy missing a penalty before netting to make it a nervy end to proceedings.
However, despite having stopped the Foxes’ striker’s spot kick, Lloris was not satisfied with what he saw both on and off the pitch, insisting big improvements are needed from players and fans alike in their Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund.
He told the Sun: “We need to obviously improve the team performance, compared to today, and we need the stadium to push, to help us.
“On some days, like today it’s difficult to deal with Wembley. But hopefully in this big game we’ll receive this help from the crowd.
It was a very difficult game. They’re used to playing good football against the top sides in the league and it was the case again. Leicester played in a fantastic way and I think we won the game thanks to our spirit and character. Without that, we could not win this game.
“I think we need to improve the team performance. We won but against a bigger side we couldn’t have won that type of game. It’s up to us. But the most important thing was to get another three points in a difficult period.”

Wembley might have been turned into something of a fortress during their temporary spell but the fans are understandably not settled into their surroundings while their new stadium is completed. They just want to be back at a proper home and it seems as though it is affecting their passion when watching their team play. This might not have been one of the big boys of the Premier League but the side still needed the encouragement and support from those in the stands and it seems Lloris is hoping there will be more in their Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund. As for the team’s performance, it was not a vintage display and Leicester could have been pushing for a win had they been more clinical. As Lloris says, this would have been a much tougher game to win had it been against a top quality side and they were lucky to escape with all three points.
