Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp will have been fuming with defender Joe Gomez as footage emerged from their game in the FA Cup.

Liverpool’s quest for a quadruple continued last night as a much-changed side from their Carabao Cup victory at the weekend were able to make it through to the quarter-finals of the competition – the first time that they have done that whilst under the German’s stewardship.

Do you know how many points Liverpool gain in these seasons? Let's start of with 2020/21

Two goals from Takumi Minamino in the first half provided them with a buffer for the majority of the game against Norwich City to see them through, but a goal from Lukas Rupp certainly made things a little bit tense as the game entered the final few minutes.

However, the goal itself could easily have been prevented, but Liverpool’s Gomez didn’t exactly make much of an effort when it came to trying to stop it, as he continued to back off from the German before allowing him to fire his shot into the back of the net, as the footage shows.

Could Joe Gomez be a future Liverpool captain?

Gomez is someone that has found appearances rather hard to come by this season, making just 14 in total – with the vast majority of them coming in cup competitions as he faces stiff competition from the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip to get into the starting XI.

And whilst he put in a respectable performance last night against the Canaries – racking up three clearances, three interceptions, two successful aerial duels and a pass completion rate of 91% (as per WhoScored) – a moment like this isn’t going to do him any favours when it comes to trying to get more appearances under his belt ahead of the other three defenders.
