Harry Wilson has completed a deal to move to Derby County on loan, according to a reliable journalist.

Alan Nixon, the Sun’s transfer expert, made the claim on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday morning.

He also claimed that Leeds had tried to land him but that Frank Lampard seems to have won the day.

Good move for Derby?

This is a fantastic move for Derby, probably one of the deals of the Championship this summer. Plenty of teams had wanted Wilson, including Leeds, Rangers and Celtic. He’s so highly thought of at Liverpool that fans are seriously disgruntled he’s not getting a chance in their first-team next season. He’ll have a real point to prove as well. He signed a new contract at Liverpool recently but he knows that he has to prove that he can make an impact on Jurgen Klopp’s team this season or his time at Liverpool could be over. The 21-year-old Wales international will be desperate to head back to Anfield after this loan move and challenge for his place at Anfield. That will only help Derby County’s push for promotion, and it’s testament to Lampard that he managed to put derby’s case more successfully that Steven Gerrard, Brendan Rodgers or Marcelo Bielsa. We’re expecting big things from Wilson.

Likely to happen?

It looks like this one is done bar the official shouting. Nixon knows what he’s talking about and when he releases a tweet with information as definitive as this, you know it’s solid. It’s been rumoured that Wilson would end up at Derby for a while now. This makes it look like a certainty. We’d expect an official announcement imminently.
