Leeds United youngster Sonny Perkins impressed once again on Tuesday night with his display in the Papa John’s Trophy for the U21s side.
It was a night to forget on the whole for Michael Skubala’s men who tasted a heavy 3-0 defeat away to Bolton Wanderers to bring their unbeaten start to the campaign to an end.
However, it was apparent their summer signing, Perkins, was a bright spark throughout the game with journalist Adam Pope left raving about the young talent on Twitter.
The 18-year-old wasn’t able to get his name on the scoresheet in Greater Manchester and did have his name taken by the referee, but it seems he still showed a lot of signs for optimism despite losing the ball 22 times:
“Perkins looking different gravy at times tonight with his neat skills & passing,” Pope tweeted after just 30 minutes at the University of Bolton Stadium.
TIF Thoughts on Pope’s comments…
The outing on Tuesday night provided what is somewhat of a rarity for Perkins with the Englishman not finding the net – making it back-to-back appearances without a goal across all competitions.
Is it too early to promote Perkins to Marsch's squad?
Yes

No

It has, however, been a sensational start to the new campaign for the former West Ham United man who scored eight goals across his eight appearances for the Whites youth side (via Transfermarkt).
It is a shame Perkins’ experience in the men’s game is limited as with Jesse Marsch’s side struggling for points at the moment, the 18-year-old is certainly looking too good for the youth level.
