Journalist Tim Thornton has suggested that he wouldn’t be surprised if Jack Harrison signed a new contract with Leeds United this summer.
According to reports, Newcastle United are keen on signing Jack Harrison this summer, but Leeds United would want a significant fee for his services if he was to leave, as he still has two years remaining on his current contract at Elland Road.
Raphinha is expected to part ways with Leeds this summer, with fellow Premier League side Chelsea and also Barcelona emerging as the front runners to sign him, so Jesse Marsch might be keen to keep the other winger (Harrison), rather than see them both leave in one window.
Despite links of an exit from Elland Road for Harrison, Thornton spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that he would not be surprised if the English winger signed a new deal with the club.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if he [Harrison] signed a new contract at Leeds. The thing for Jack is that he wants to try and break into the England squad now,” Thornton said.
“I know Gareth Southgate watched him a few times last season. He’ll see this is a big season for him to try and kick on and to try and force his way into the England squad.”

TIF Thoughts on Thornton’s comments…
Harrison was one of the better players for Leeds last season in what was overall a poor campaign for the club after they just scrapped Premier League survival on the final day of the season, but Harrison did in fact net 10 times in all competitions, including an important goal on the final day of the season.
Although Harrison might like the idea of a move after the poor season Leeds have had, they have made some impressive signings, so he might see that and understand the ambition and the direction that the club is going in, and opt to stay.
