Since January, Arsenal have been strongly linked to Barcelona forward David Villa. If any move where to go through, I’m not sure how much excitement it would create among fans.
Don’t get me wrong, Villa is a fantastic player and a natural goal-scorer. He’s Spain’s all-time top scorer and that, in many ways, speaks for itself.
But he’s 31-years-old. He’s injury prone. His next move will probably be the last major contract he will sign. He will provide his new club with no re-sell value. For all the positives, there are a number of negatives that take the sheen off of any potential move for Villa.
Still there’s been enough speculation surrounding Villa and Arsenal to suggest that there’s something to these stories. Could the Spanish forward be on his way to the Emirates?
According to Spanish pundit Axel Torres, Villa has already agreed ‘pre-contract’ terms with David Villa. Here’s what Torres had to say:
“I’ve been told he’s showed a pre-contract with Arsenal to the board of Barcelona. He’s showed he had an agreement with Arsenal, but it’s not the final agreement. He showed it to the board of Barcelona to put pressure on them and he wants to go to England.
He doesn’t want to be a Barcelona player. He has no good relations with some of the important players in the squad and he knows he has to play if he wants to be in the starting line-up for Spain at the World Cup next year.” (Source: TalkSPORT)
What does all this mean? In essence, the Gunners have agreed personal terms with Villa, who is using the deal to try and force his move away from Barcelona.
If these claims are true, it also means that Arsene Wenger has taken a more short-term approach to his transfers. With his Arsenal contract up next season, perhaps his interest in young stars is dwindling. Perhaps he’s looking at players who can come in and make an immediate impact.
Arsenal fans will hope that Villa arrives alongside a couple of other signings and that these new additions help to lead the club towards success next season.
In and of itself, it’s not the most exciting move. If it’s part of a transfer blitz, however, it could be the start of something very exciting indeed.
What’s your take? Should the Gunners really be pursuing this Spanish forward? Can Villa force his move to the Emirates?

Is it through that arsenal have signed David Villa. And how many have arsenal sign.
No Wenger, let Villa be our plan B (other option) if we don’t get Higuain /Rooney/Jovetic or Lawnderwisky then we can just take him while showing SANOGO what to do in the front attack.
Let’s Our plan A be HIGUAIN and then ROONEY, Cesar and William Ashley
Us as fans need to stop worrying about a Players resale value, let the club worry about that side of things. We just want proper players that can do the business and put the ball in the onion basket. So yes please to David Villa!!!
Just imagine if we had a consistent striker, when we had fabregas creating all those goal scoring opportunities ?!?!
Yes if its true I think next season ell be mervelous
I agree at u
I don’t know what to think anymore…. all these rumours have done me head in…. all I do know is that we need a few top class players who can still perform not has beens. There should have been one or two top signings lined up by now which is making me think its not gonna happen…young boys & old boys might not be good enough im afraid.
Not Villa, he won’t cope with the physical EPL. Remember Eduardo? Where did he end up? The same will happen to Villa. Not good enough for arsenal but maybe Tottenham.
He’s agood lad with experience and that’s all we need
Why would Arsene want to buy David Villa Am sure there are better player with more value than him. Are we desperately in need of a striker???????? I question that thinking of midfielder like Wanyama makes more sense than Villa now. If he had managed to come last Jan window then it could have been something else. With his age unless he is just a bargain that we can amortize in one year. We got
I hope this are not rumors because Villa is an experience striker who can score goal anywhere around the eighteen, so that goes well for arsenal.
no villa, yes to rooney, higuain or maybe benteke!!
Am tired and sick of all these rumours, pls mr. wenger sign if u want to sign.
He is injury prone and could be a liability.
Having villa is great
But we still need more experience players
If it’s Villa, it will be a ‘short-term contingency’
Having the younger ones like Sanogo, Mitrovic and the likes of Grenier and the present frontmen ….> Poldokski, Giroud, Walcott and Ox Chamberlain, what about the guys in the reserves >> Gnabry, Eisfeld and Ryo!
They will be I am sure given to prove their mettle in the pre-season and Overseas Summer stints where Arsenal will be visiting!!
Come on lets be more optimistic!!
Pls sign Quality one for us and stop all this noise about villa.
In order to hv a competition one position must hv 2-3 players. go on & get him 2 play at the left flank
I thought that arsenal policy is that we don’t give more than a 2yr contract to players over the age of 30yrs old. We are gonna have to buy David villa and then give him a wage of at min £60k or more. Don’t think it’s gonna happen to be honest. We need long term investments and he isn’t going to be one
villa my ass!! To injury prone and old for epl battle
Mr wenger get us qaulity players n stop all this rumours ok?
Old boys and young boys….. fucking great.
