Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has secured a reunion with several of his former colleagues at Liverpool as the club confirm done deals for their arrival at Ibrox.
The Light Blues revealed via their official website that the Anfield legend would be joined by assistant manager Gary McAllister, first team coach Michael Beale, technical coach Tom Culshaw and head of performance Jordan Milsom, while Colin Stewart remains as goalkeeping coach.
Milsom, Beale and Culshaw all follow Gerrard from the Reds, having worked with the former England midfielder in his role as under-18 coach on Merseyside, and will help support him in what is his first foray into senior management.
Opinion
Taking that massive step from under-18 coaching to first team manager will be a difficult one for Gerrard to make, and he has made sure to do everything he can to have the right support network around him to make it as much of a success as possible. He has surrounded himself with people that he knows and trusts, having worked closely with them while in his role at Liverpool, but again, they are all trying to bridge that gap from working with youngsters to the demands of the senior side. In some ways Gerrard is not too different from Graeme Murty, who also went from the academy level to the Ibrox dugout, and there will be many hopes that the Liverpool icon does not follow in the same footsteps as his predecessor. Still, with Murty looking likely to return to the youth system, Gerrard will have a man who he can call upon for experience, as well as a sympathetic counterpart if the going gets tough.
