The January transfer window may have closed a long time ago now as most football fans focus on the second half of the 2024/25 campaign and with us now really at the business end of the season, all Newcastle United fans are focused on whether or not we can snare one of those top five spots in the league and get ourselves back into European competition.
That does not however stop the speculation rumour mill, but thankfully we are now being linked with potential incomings instead of the almost endless Aleksander Isak outgoing claims. Sadly for us it does build on what has come before when it comes to our highly talented 25 year old Swedish international, but whatever happens with the 50 cap’s future, given that the latest incoming links seem to feature strikers, at least we are sensibly covering our backs here.
Fans will undoubtedly have their own opinions, but it is now being claimed that ahead of the summer transfer window we are ready to test Brentford’s resolve by meeting their valuation for versatile attacker Bryan Mbeumo. For those fans who play Online roulette for real money, sometimes you do not need to overthink matters to make the correct choice even when gambling, and signing Mbeumo would fall into that category given his consistency.
The 25 year old, 20 capped Cameroon talent, almost seamlessly adjusted to life in England when he arrived at Brentford back in 2019 and he has long had his suitors given his impressive performances for the side, and a rough one goal every three game record is certainly not too shabby at all at Premier League level, particularly given his right wing position as opposed to an out and out striker.
It has been claimed that in the last few transfer windows that Brentford have put a £50 million valuation on Mbeumo’s head with the hope of dissuading rivals from making a move for his services, but in the modern day market that kind of fee is not actually that over the top given his performance levels and his goal return in the top flight.
If we do have a real interest in him, come the end of the campaign he will also only have 12 months remaining on his existing contract and with no new deal presumably in sight, if Brentford are now willing to cash in on him, we could negotiate a little harder as they will naturally worry about losing him for nothing.
The counter to that is there will likely be other suitors so we could quite easily get pulled into a bidding war, and that would not be to our advantage.
A front line in 2025/26 of Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak and Bryan Mbeumo could be quite a tasty one for manager Eddie Howe – the question is, can he make it happen?
