Wolves are in the running to sign Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga, according to the latest betting odds.

Leading bookmaker Sky Bet have priced the Championship powerhouse at 8/1 to make a switch from the City Ground to Molineux before September 3.

Recently relegated Premier League side Middlesbrough are leading the chase for his signature and the north east club are priced at 1/1.

Assombalonga helped Forest survive relegation from the Championship on the last day of the season when he scored a brace against Ipswich Town.

The 24-year-old, who missed a number of games during the recently concluded campaign, struck 14 goals in 32 matches for a Forest side that struggled throughout the season.

Assombalonga, who is known for his brute strength and lightning speed in the final third, has played for the likes of Peterborough and Southend during his career.

If he were to make a switch to either Boro or Wolves next term then he would be part of a team that have appointed new managers at the helm this summer.

Garry Monk, who quit Leeds last month, was named the new manager of the north east outfit five days ago.

By contrast, former Porto head coach Nuno Santos replaced Paul Lambert in the dugout at Wolves after he had left his post after just seven months in charge.
