Top 10 Ways For a Football Lover to Spend the Summer of 2011

|

CONCACAF Gold Cup
The most trickiest of all the FIFA member’s to pronounce have their own tournament this summer (it is already under-way don’t you know!). It looks likely to be either USA or Mexico that will win it this year. Both sides have won their opening games with ease so look forward to them playing each other in the June 25th final. With Javier Hernandez, Tim Howard and even Simeon Jackson in action – get watching!
TUNE IN BECAUSE…You can’t have enough of Chicharito!

FIFA Women’s World Cup
Yes, there is a senior World Cup this summer! And it is going to be on the BBC! Well, the red button at least. The most talented female footballers will be competing for the biggest prize in the game. Germany could win it, USA will be fancied and England will end up reaching the quarter finals and losing on penalties. It’s almost like the male equivalent! Except the USA are better in the women’s game.
TUNE IN BECAUSE…There will be no Keys and Gray in sight!

Womens Super League
If international Women’s football is not up your street then why not watch some domestic action instead. The newly created Super League boasts team such as Arsenal, Chelsea and, of course, the Doncaster Rovers Belles. Who could say no to them?
TUNE IN BECAUSE…It’s live top flight domestic football! Obviously.

Fulham in Europe
Since the last time Fulham were in the Europa League they have lost Woy, hired Hughes, said bye to Hughes and hired Jol. Oh, and erected a statue of Jacko! Yet after a successful season in 2010/11 in terms of fair play, the London club find themselves in Europe’s second best tournaments. The only down side is that the games begin on 30th June. Not so good for the player’s holidays; very good for die-hard Fulham fans.
TUNE IN BECAUSE…It’s a competitive match between an English club and a team you never knew existed!

Friendly Tournaments
You get 4 teams that boast some great players, get them all together on a sunny weekend in July and see what happens. These friendly tournaments appear to be the “in” thing this summer. From the Emirates Cup to the Dublin Super Cup and even the Barclays Asia Trophy, this is your teams first chance of the new season to win some silverware (however minor the silverware may be).
TUNE IN BECAUSE…It’s your chance to enjoy a sunny weekend and some football. And not get too worked up over the result
