Where will West Ham’s relegated stars head next?

|

There are also a number of players that will leave West Ham for buttons this year, Luis Boa Morte, Kieron Dyer, Julien Faubert and potentially Thomas Hitzelsperger whom I would be very surprised if he did not have a relegation release clause. Carlton Cole is another who the owners must have wished they had cashed in on when Liverpool came knocking last year, at the time he was valued at £12m, at the minute they would be lucky to get £6m and the relegation will have ruined any hopes of an uplift in this value.

The loanee’s will also be leaving, Victor Obinna will have his fair share of suitors in the Premier League, Robbie Keane is a shadow of the player of 3 years ago and Wayne Bridge will no doubt move to a mid table team.

The players which potentially may make the hammers a tidy profit would be Mark Noble (Everton would be a great fit for him), Demba Ba (Stoke City could come back into the running given his impressive form and potentially Queens Park Rangers), James Tomkins (QPR) who has been exceptional in the games he has played given that he has to play alongside Matthew Upson who always looks like an accident waiting to happen.

Given these potential exits I really do hope that the hammers can bounce back but this may be a longer rebuilding process than the fans expect. There is a hell of a lot of work to be done at the Boleyn ground and if the rumours of Steve McClaren as new manager are true then I think they may have the right man for the Job. The like of Zavon Hines & Freddie Sears should be given their chances now. If the hammers can take in £30-40m in sales this summer and spend £15m on championship level players they will have a chance at an automatic promotion from the Championship but it is all dependant on Messrs Gold & Sullivan and how tight they hold the purse strings.
