Who will win the Champions League?

|

Jupp Heynckes’s last season in Bavaria could indeed end with a treble. The hardest part about that treble will definitely be beating Barcelona. They have the class to do it and are probably the best all-round team in Europe because they have no weakness. Possibly a few sneaky tips from confirmed manager for next season, Pep Guardiola, about how to beat his former team, will give them a slight advantage.

Will beating the Catalan giants be possible for Bayern?

Real Madrid:

When the current Real Madrid team is mentioned, two names spring to my mind: Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo. If Real Madrid are to become the first team to be champions of Europe ten times by capturing this year’s trophy, then Mourinho and Ronaldo both need to be performing to the best of their abilities.

It seems Madrid have lost the La Liga trophy they worked so hard to get in 2011/12. The trophy at the top of Real’s wish list now is a European crown; the only trophy that hasn’t been added to the cabinet at the Bernabeu under Mourinho.

His departure seems imminent, so this will be the last chance the ‘special one’ will get to win the Champions League whilst managing those wearing white. The draw has been kind to Madrid in the weirdest way possible. Los Blancos will go to face Borussia Dortmund who have won the last two Bundesliga titles prior to this campaign. Fending off attacks from Bayern Munich, Dortmund have been a powerhouse of German football in previous years. But I guess that’s as kind as the draw gets when it comes to the Champions League semi-final.

Can Jose and Cristiano help Real Madrid make it ten?

Borussia Dortmund:

They are the underdogs, which sometimes is a good thing (ask Roberto Di Mateo who guided Chelsea to their Champions League win as underdog last year). The attack of Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gotze, Marco Reus and Jakub Blaszczykowski is one that should be feared by everyone including Real Madrid.

The youthful German outfit are capable of pulling off all sorts of surprise like when they beat Madrid in the group stages. Jurgen Klopp has done extremely well to bring these young guns into the Westfalenstadion. The fans of the yellows are amazing and will surely play a part in the outcome of this tie. They have won the Bundesliga back-to-back and could now be ready to attempt to conquer Europe. Could it be seeing a sea of yellow at Wembley on the 25th of May?
