The ONE signing that Manchester United and Man City need to make?

|

Chelsea
The European champions have acted quickly in the transfer market, recruiting Eden Hazard, Marko Marin and Oscar being just a few of the many signings made by the London outfit. With Ron Gourlay stating just a few weeks ago that the club were still looking to bring in another new face or two before the window shuts. Although the club experienced success in Europe, the players and the fans know that their position in the league last season was not satisfactory.

Strong reports are suggesting the Blues are close to agreeing a few with the Marseille right back Cesar Azpilicueta, the only other area in which Chelsea may look to strengthen is in their attacking options, with Napoli striker Edinson Cavani being the ideal option (Source: The Standard). With a fee of around £32 million bring sufficient to bring the Uruguayan striker to Stamford Bridge, the striker would be ideal to support Fernando Torres, by deploying a striking role alongside him, or operating on a right wing position where he is also known to play.

Arsenal
International faces have already been brought into the Emirates, with Cazorla, Podolski and Giroud adding to the attacking options at Arsenals disposal. One of these strikers is being seen as the replacement for Van Persie, who looks set to leave the club for Manchester United. With the club finishing 3rd in the league last season, which is by no means a bad finish considering the quality of the clubs who finished above them, the club will believe that another quality signing could give them a real chance to push for the league.

Yann M’vila is a name that is continuously being linked with Arsenal (Source: The Mirror), and with Barcelona’s reported interest in Alex Song, would be an ideal replacement, offering strength, passing ability and pace in the centre of the pitch. Alternatively, he could play alongside Song, becoming a box to box midfielder, much like Ramires has become for Chelsea over the past season or so.

It is difficult to say how the season will reveal itself, with many clubs acting in the transfer market early, whilst others have waited and may look to bring players in the last few weeks of the window.
