With the transfer window now open are Liverpool’s players up to snuff?

|

Lucas Levia:  8/10

Before his season ended abruptly, he was playing very well; he helped the defense provided an extra attacking option and he absolutely justified his inclusion to the starting 11.

Jay Spearing: 6/10

Firstly I have to say,’ Not Liverpool material’, he is a talented player no doubt but he isn’t clinical enough with tackles and doesn’t add much to the offensive front.

Steven Gerrard: 8/10

Isn’t he always in that category, his performances against Everton and Newcastle were power performances. Although injury did hold him back. He is Captain Fantastic!

Luis Suarez: 8/10

He is a gifted player with the ability to trick the any opposition defenders, his ball control is also amazing and he is just the player to watch. He had a mixed season, with controversies (which I will not go into) and brilliant displays (Norwich). A wanted player in the transfer window indeed!

Andy Carroll: 7.5/10

He will never justify that price tag, but he was improving towards the end of the season and did justify his inclusion in the England contingent. His performances against Blackburn, Chelsea and Ukraine have earned him the recognition of AC Milan.

Substitutes:

Alexander Doni: 6.5/10

Not much to say on him, He featured twice in the premier league against Aston Villa (1-1), where he did okay and against Blackburn (3-2) where he was sent off. Overall he is a good enough back up for Reina but he cannot be a replacement for the future.

Brad Jones: 7.5/10

He came on during the Blackburn game where he brilliantly stopped a penalty and also featured in the FA cup semi finals where once again he had a great evening.

Martin Kelly, Sebastian Coates, Raheem Sterling and Jonjo Shelvey are the future of Liverpool and when they were picked in the lineup they did show good performances. These are players to watch out for next season. 8/10

Maxi Rodriguez and Craig Bellamy performed every time they featured, Bellamy was instrumental for Liverpool in the Carling Cup success. Both of them were amongst goals in important fixtures. These Veterans should have had more playing time under Dalglish especially since the expensive purchases of Downing, Adam and Henderson did not work out. 8/10

Finally Jamie Carragher, a player who was left on the bench for most of the fixtures, due to the successful partnership of Agger and Skrtel. He did have many slip ups during important fixtures which put Liverpool on the back foot but did give good displays when needed. 7.5/10
