Does anyone give a sweet FA about England anymore?

|

In spite of this, it is not the core reason I did not have faith in Capello, I lost all respect for him with his failure to admit his tactics were wrong at the World Cup and not doing something about it was the final straw. The money he was on and he could not just change the formation of the team to try and progress. Absolutely ridiculous!

Also, while we are discussing the mans elaborate earnings. How can the FA think it is acceptable to keep a manager on that kind of wage when he was leaving after the European Championship anyway. Where is the sense in that? We need someone who is committed to the cause and does a job worthy of the pay packet. Oh and don’t worry I do realise the FA an sense really do not go together at all.

Having said this, I am aware his record was not the worst; winning 28 matches out of 42 but that is not the point I could support the team through thick and thin if I was being entertained, but it never happened. The players do it as their bread and butter in the Premier League so why not in their Country’s colours?

The really sad thing is, how do we ever expect the team to do well with a bunch of untrained chimps in charge at FA headquarters; too busy worrying about bringing in a new kit, similar to the previous one, just ever so slightly different (well they needed some sort of revenue to pay Fabio) however it was reported that a previous England strip was worn on only seven occasions! I do not know how accurate this is but if true then the FA should be ashamed of themselves and they need to start worrying about the state of the Country’s National team instead of ways to rip off fans.

I will admit I was disappointed we were not successful in our World Cup bid and it was reasons nothing to do with football we didn’t get it, I think we can all agree, but no one could have been surprised. I can’t see how it would have changed our performance in the competition though, not with the current state of the team.

Sven had the “golden generation” of players and could not change the outcome of results at the major tournaments. The team needs re-building: a mixture of youth and experience, the new manager cannot ignore a player at the top of his game and not play him without any valid reason whatsoever (Capello and Micah Richards springs to mind here – it still astounds me now!)

With re-building needed it does suggest the obvious candidate is Redknapp, the team he has built at Spurs is exciting, progressing and achieving things. If he comes in and can do that to the England team then I may decide to watch their matches again. I am not asking for trophies all I want is exciting football from my country and a manager who knows what he is doing, who does not let stubborn judgements affect the team!

Having said that Redknapp being the option everyone wants and a man with the right credentials for the job; so don’t be surprised if the FA bigwigs go for a big name that wants a big wage but gives a big naff all about the team, its success and the fans! After all, these are the people who though it was a good idea to appoint Steve McClaren and we all know how that turned out!
If that is the case I can see more people joining me in the “I don’t care about England” boat!
