But here we have owners that are mega rich.
Owners that own the biggest airport in Thailand.
Owners that own one of the biggest companies in Thailand.
Now you don’t get all that without having some business sense.
Which leads me to my smokescreen theory.
Why do we suddenly believe football club chairmen when they say we havn’t approached so and so etc etc etc.
They never tell the truth when the say ‘The manager has our full backing’ just days before showing them the door.
And I ask, would men with the business sense as above sack a manager and his assistant days before what is probably the biggest game of the season so far (West Ham United away – the pre season joint fav’s with ourselves to go up) without having someone in mind to replace the guy?
Now whilst I am not decrying the abilities of Academy Director Jon Rudkin,coach Mike Stowell & development coach Steve Beaglehole who will be looking after the team for this crucial game would it not have been better to still have Sven & Derek at the helm fr this one?
Is it a massive gamble Top & his dad have taken?
We all know Martin is a man of principle and has always stated & shown that he is unwilling to talk to a club about the managers job whilst there is still a manager in the job.
Why the change of heart from O’Neill within 24 hours?
Some papers report that he doesn’t want to ruin the memories and doesn’t believe in return to past glories while others quote him as saying he wants to manage in the Premier League, well surely LCFC would fulfill that ambition?
We all know Martin can be stubborn. Randy Lerner will vouch for that.
But he wants to win things, big things. Martin is a winner. He would want certain assurances fro the owners. He’ll want a budget but with reports that the new man at the helm will have a JTW budget of up to £20m this shouldn’t be a problem.
But who knows. Martin is his own man and money (as in wages) is not the be all and end to him.
So when that smoke clears who will we see ? O’Neill? Hoddle? Keegen? Ancellotti?
Who knows but I hope the smoke clears sooner rather than later…
