Are Blackburn positioning themselves as the new Barcelona?

|

Keeping Chris Samba, when both of North London’s premier clubs were interested in signing the monster centre back is a huge plus for Blackburn, with Samba being influential and a huge part of the team since his arrival for a merge £450,000 back in 2007 Samba initially wanted a transfer when Kean replaced Big Sam, yet was persuaded to stay, and looks like being a Rover’s player come the end of this transfer window at the very least. How long he stays at Blackburn however is another matter, and there is only so many times a player can be courted by a top side and not have his head turned.

For every team, from Real Madrid to Rochdale, every team needs a spine throughout, key players who are ever present and provide consistently good performances, stepping up at those key moments where a season can be made or broken. Players like Robinson, Salgado, Samba, Nelson and Givet provide this – it does not go un noticed that all of the above with the exception of Robbo are not adverse to giving opposition players a good kick either! – there is also creativity with the likes of David Dunn – who when fit is a key player for the Lancashire outfit, Pederson and Hoillet.

Pre-season showed the emergence of Formica – an Argentinian attacking midfielder who looked bright and full of potential when on the field. Blackburn are not without quality in their ranks – it remains to be seen if Steve Kean is the one to get it out of them however.

Blackburn do have the squad to stay in the premier league, there are much worse teams than the Rovers in England’s top division this term, and with the investment provided by the Venky’s, reinforcements can be brought in during the January transfer window if need be. The only potential issue is that of Steve Kean, who is dubious at best, and when looking at some of his starting line ups and subs at key points in games last season, it does beg the question of if it will be him that costs Blackburn a place in the EPL – again showing that being trigger happy when coming into a new club as an owner and sacking the manager may not pay off after all. Blackburn’s future is far from bleak, but one can only imagine if Allardyce was at the helm the future may be slightly brighter and more assured.

Steve Keans stats show he is clueless. Blackburn need to sack him ASAP if they hope to remain in the Prem League.
