Who better to ‘fix’ Manchester United’s midfield: Samir Nasri or Wesley Sneijder?

|

A terrific World Cup followed for the Netherlands and Sneijder, and before people say well Spain won the world cup, only one Spaniard in David Villa scored more than him. He was named Midfielder of the tournament and amongst the best XI. If £20m is the quote for Nasri, of course £35-40m is likely to be what Inter would want for their star man; however question then is whether the Italians would sell?

You only have to look at the impact that fellow country man Rafael Van der Vaart has had at Spurs in the 2010/11 premier league season to see that the Dutch can ooze the relevant class to entertain. Messrs Bergkamp, Hasselbaink, Robben and Van Nistelrooy have all provided that something extra in England. And it appears Fergie is desperate to conclude a deal before a pre-season tour of the USA, where somewhat ironically he will face Barcelona again on July 30th in Washington DC.

Now there is absolutely no question that Barcelona are a fantastic team, they appear to show no sign of weakening, with the protracted capture of Cesc Fabregas. With him alongside Xavi and Iniesta we could see an actual shift in consecutive winners of the European Cup, a trend that Real Madrid orchestrated and then with the likes of Ajax, Liverpool and even Nottingham Forest replicating the feat in the 1970s.

In the 25 years of Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign at Manchester United, he has time after time achieved unparalleled success at Old Trafford, a once in a lifetime figure and an incredible tenure at a club. We will perhaps never see the likes of it again in the modern game, but for all his greatness, the Scot envisages a new challenge and to topple this Barcelona side at their ultimate best could go down as one of his finest. Whether it is with Nasri or Sneijder who is capable of aiding United in this task remains to be seen.

  • Danny Lewis says:

lets not discuss which we’d prefer, a simple solution, lets go and buy both, cm midfield pairing of nasri and sneijder, cant get better than that. We have the money to bid £35 for sneijder and was only last week we bid 11 million euros for argentine kid erik lamela. so clearly money left over. If not sell gibson kucszack obertan and evans to raise funds.

  • UTTAM-JUG says:

I think we should buy both but I think Nasri would be better because of his age and cost compared to Sneijder but it is hard to say, both players would be welcomed.

  • John Smith says:

Sneijder is the best fit for united.

  • busby says:

  • Wesley Sneijder may fit the cap of Old Trafford midfield than Samir Nasri.

  • I do believe all the ideas you have introduced on your post. They are very convincing and can definitely work. Nonetheless, the posts are very brief for beginners. May just you please extend them a bit from next time? Thank you for the post.

  • certainly like your website but you have to test the spelling on quite a few of your posts. Many of them are rife with spelling problems and I to find it very bothersome to inform the reality however I’ll certainly come back again.
