Marc-Andre Ter Stegen

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen affirmed himself as one of the most talented young goalkeepers in world football during his three campaigns as Borussia Monchengladbach’s No.1, but the 23-year-old has found himself frustrated at Barcelona since a transfer in summer 2014.

Indeed, the German international has been reserved almost exclusively for Champions League and Copa del Rey action by Luis Enrique, with Claudio Bravo filling the sticks for the Catalans in La Liga.

That has allowed Ter Stegen to showcase his abilities at the highest level – he claimed last term’s UEFA Save of the Season award as Barcelona lifted the 2015 Champions League title – but has also reduced him to around 20 appearances per season, with outings dependent on Barca’s progression in the auxiliary tournaments.

Clearly capable of holding down a No.1 berth at another top club, there are already rumours the 6 foot 2 shot-stopper will push for a move during the summer transfer window. Young, talented and already established at top level, he could prove a very shrewd investment for Manchester United.
