Goalkeeper – Asmir Begovic

|

Following Jose Mourinho’s declaration that he wants two top class goalkeepers at his disposal next season, Stoke City’s Asmir Begovic has been mooted as a potential replacement for the outbound Petr Cech.

The Bosnian international has demonstrated a remarkable consistency as the Potters’ No.1 over the last five seasons, in that time winning the club’s Young Player of the Year, Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Supporters’ Club Player of the Year awards.

But he looks set to leave the Britannia this summer, with one year remaining on his current contract and negotiations over a new deal yet to get underway.

Rather tellingly, Mark Hughes has dropped the 27 year-old from his last two match day squads in favour of prodigious understudy Jack Butland – suggesting Stoke are already preparing for life without Begovic.

The tabloids value him at around £8million – but Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are also interested.
