John Bostock

What happened?

Having debuted for Crystal Palace and captained England’s U17 squad at just 15 years of age, Tottenham Hotspur’s lengthy tribunal with the South London club only further amplified the hype surrounding a once prodigious John Bostock.

Eventually the courts obliged the Lilywhites to pay £700k for the midfielder’s services, after just four Championship appearances for the Eagles, with an extra £1.5million scheduled in add-ons.

Not that Bostock ever came close to activating any of his clauses – or for that matter, Palace’s 15% sell on fee. Despite becoming the youngest player to ever play for Spurs in 2008, aged 16, he never made a single Premier League appearance in five years.

Instead, the centre-mid went on loan to Brentford, Hull City, Sheffield Wednesday, Swindon Town and Toronto FC without ever really impressing, amassing 42 loan appearances in total, before being released in summer 2013.

Where is he now?

After initially joining Royal Antwerp for a season, the former England U19 now finds himself in the Belgian second division with OH Leuven. He’s bagged 10 goals in 25 appearances since joining them last summer – so you never know, Bostock’s great come back could be just around the corner.
