Krisztian Nemeth

What happened?

Big things were expected of striker Krisztian Nemeth when Liverpool signed him in 2007 – as claimed by the club’s official website – after netting 18 goals in 37 league appearances for Hungarian outfit MTK Hungaria.

He proved a hit in the reserves, winning the Reserves Player of the Year award in his debut campaign and a year later even getting a squad number – albeit, the rather un-envious 29 jersey.

Unfortunately however, Nemeth never made much progress from there; he scored just three goals combined during loan spells with Blackpool and AEK Athens, and soon after joined Olympiacos for the exact fee that had brought him to Merseyside three years previous – a miserly £1million – without making a single Premier League appearance.

Where is he now?

After making just four appearances in two years for the Greek side, instead going out on loan to Olympiacos Volos, MTK Budapest and RKC Waalwijk to score just six goals, the Hungarian international signed a permanent deal Roda JC Kerkrade in 2012.

After 15 goals in 45 games for the Dutch second-tier outfit, Nemeth mutually terminated his contract last July.

He’s now with Sporting Kansas City in the MLS and scored his first goal for them last Monday.
