Gary Neville

Kicking off this list is the man Roy Hodgson has already endorsed to eventually succeed him as England manager, Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville.

The former Manchester United defender is untested as a manager, but racked up 85 caps for England as a player, not to mention winning eight Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues and five entries in the PFA Team of the Year during a 602-game career with Manchester United.

Furthermore, it takes just a single viewing of Monday Night Football to realise the 40 year-old possesses all the requisites for the role; an impeccable analytical brain, a huge natural passion for the game and the ability to communicate accurately and articulately with his audience.

Working as a coach under Hodgson since Euro 2012 only further underpins Neville’s credentials. Opting for a manager with absolutely no prior experience, however, would be an unusually bold move from the FA.
