Robert Green

A speculative story emerging from The Times earlier this week, the British newspaper claims Chelsea are considering QPR’s Robert Green as a potential replacement for Petr Cech – who, coincidentally, could be on his way to Arsenal this summer.

The England international – famed for his flopped save at the 2010 World Cup – may not quite match the former Chelsea No.1’s level of quality and experience, but he’s been in incredible form this term, generating the most saves per match of any Premier League goalkeeper; 96 in 29 appearances.

Arsenal’s goalkeeping department needs a reshuffle too this summer, and with the 35 year-old’s contract on the verge of entering its final twelve months, the chances of QPR agreeing to sell Green seem somewhat likely – especially if they plummet back into the Championship as expected.

That could see either London side snap him up in a cut-price deal. Locality particularly bodes well for the Blues; Stamford Bridge is less than four miles away from Loftus Road.
