West Ham are among the sides who are keenly tracking the future of Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott.

What’s the latest on Alex Scott to West Ham?

According to the Daily Mail, the Hammers, alongside Wolverhampton Wanderers, are leading the chase for this coveted youngster who has taken England’s second tier by storm in the last couple of seasons.

The report also details that the Robins manager Nigel Pearson is holding out for around £25m amid this plethora of interest.

Would Alex Scott be a good signing for West Ham?

The 19-year-old has been a revelation in the Championship over the past couple of seasons and has established himself as one of his side’s most revered, important, and consistent performers.

Despite his extremely young age, Scott has already made 75 league appearances for City and registered 12 goal contributions.

Although his side was well-beaten by a star-studded Manchester City side in an FA Cup encounter earlier this campaign, Pep Guardiola branded the prodigy as an “unbelievable player.”

Due to his close and slick dribbling ability, the 2022 UEFA European Championship winner was nicknamed the “Guernsey Grealish” and the second-most expensive signing in Premier League history namedropped the majestic prodigy as a “top, top talent.”

The playmaker has seen his value skyrocket from £700k in May 2022 to £12m at the time of writing, according to Transfermarkt. This is owed to his excellent passing range and astonishing work rate.

Scott has also developed a formidable reputation thanks to his wondrous versatility as he has appeared across all midfield positions as his qualities range from defence-splitting balls from advanced positions and his excellent ball recovery.

From a West Ham perspective, Scott could be the perfect heir to Declan Rice, who is reportedly set to depart the London Stadium. The club captain is undoubtedly the best player and appears destined to play Champions League football next season.

With the east London outfit seemingly resided to losing the 24-year-old, the attributes of the Bristol City maestro are reminiscent of their star man.

If Rice left then David Moyes would be left with a midfield that lacks athleticism and technical prowess – two skills that Scott possesses in abundance. For a modest fee of around £25m, this potential deal is a seemingly low-risk deal that could evolve into a shrewd purchase for the future.

The Hammers have a history of tracking Championship players that have seen them sign the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Flynn Downes, and Said Benrahma, so this transfer is very much on the cards.
