ExWHUEmployee has dropped a huge hint regarding the managerial situation at the London Stadium after distancing the recently sacked Graham Potter from the role.

What’s the latest on Graham Potter to West Ham?

According to the reliable Hammers insider, Graham Potter is unlikely to be a possible successor to David Moyes should he receive his marching orders.

However, despite this link, the report outlines how the board are unconvinced by the 47-year-old after his tumultuous and damaging seven-month stint at Chelsea.

Speaking on The West Ham Way Patreon, Ex said:

“The feedback was not so good on Potter with the top source within the club stating the general feeling is he was massively helped with his recruitment at Brighton by his backroom staff and that his time at there may have given people an inaccurate perception of the manager.

“It was also stated however that there is no evidence that they would do better than David Moyes-and for now they continue to back the manager.”

Although uncertainty shrouds a possible Potter appointment it certainly remains an option for the Hammers hierarchy.

As well as the former Ostersunds boss, Brendan Rodgers, who was just dismissed by Leicester City, has also been cited as a Moyes replacement.

Ex outlined how the feedback on Liverpool’s past manager was more “positive” but ultimately it remains an unpredictable and open race.

Is Moyes under threat from Potter for his job?

The Scotsman has undoubtedly established himself as one of the club’s most successful and transformative managers since the turn of the millennium.

In the 2020/21 season, the former Manchester United boss guided the Irons to a club-record league campaign that included 19 victories (including nine away wins) and a top-six finish for just the sixth time in the club’s history.

The next season he followed this achievement with another top-half finish as well as reaching the Europa League semi-finals before being knocked out by eventual winners Eintracht Frankfurt.

But, the club and his team’s form has massively declined this season and the Hammers are only outside the relegation zone on goal difference. This even led club captain Declan Rice to question the 59-year-old’s tactics after their dismal defeat to city rivals Tottenham Hotspur in February.

Moyes is arguably walking a managerial tightrope and despite Potter’s disastrous Chelsea tenure, his marvellous job at Brighton should not be discarded.

Although, it remains unclear if he will opt to make such an early return to management.

The West Ham board will continue to back Moyes thanks to his achievements, but Potter’s next destination will certainly be something to keep an eye on.
