Pundit Tam McManus believes that Liverpool will look to bring in players of Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham’s calibre during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The previous January transfer window saw the Merseyside club add some extra strength and depth to their squad with the arrival of Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven in a deal worth a reported fee of £35m.

Now that the next summer transfer period is approaching, the Reds have been backed to attack the market in a big way this time around.

Speaking to Football Insider, McManus said this about the upcoming summer transfer window and what he thinks Liverpool will do in it.

He said: “I think Liverpool will go all-in for the likes of Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham this summer. I think they’re going to have a great summer with one or two blockbuster midfield signings.

“It’s definitely the area they need to strengthen the most – up front, they look good with Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez, and defensively they will improve with a better midfield.

“I think the missing piece for Klopp could be a world-class midfielder, and I think they’re going to out and get one or two this summer.”

The Merseyside club have been linked with moves for both Rice and Bellingham previously.

Having previously seen Jamie Carragher say that the club needs to fresh their midfield in the summer and spend around £200m in doing so, added onto the fact that the Reds currently have three midfielders out of contract in the summer, this backs up why McManus thinks this area will be something Liverpool look to work on in the summer.

With Bellingham having an apparent valuation of €130m (£114m) and with David Moyes claiming that it would take a British record transfer fee, which currently stands at £106m, to get Rice out of West Ham United, it’s safe to say that getting either midfielder, let alone both of them, would have to see Liverpool make a significant financial investment.
