Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
Prior to joining the Italian club back in the 2017 summer transfer window, the Polish international made 181 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions, keeping 72 clean sheets in the process.
The 32-year-old now could be facing a potential return to England and north London specifically, this time with the Lilywhites.
According to a recent report from Calciomercato (via Sport Witness), Spurs are and have been interested in signing Szczesny for some time.
The report also adds that with the shot-stopper’s contract set to expire in the summer of 2024, Juventus are struggling to work out a new deal for him due to his hefty wages, therefore making him a sellable asset.
It also states that they could ‘settle for a small amount’ of ‘certainly less than €10m’ to let go of the player in the summer.
During his time at the Serie A club, the former Arsenal figure has made 201 appearances across all competitions, keeping 81 clean sheets in total.
In terms of his current wages, only Dusan Vlahovic (£222k per week) has a higher weekly salary than Szczesny at Juventus, with the goalkeeper pocketing a sum of £205k per week.
This season has seen the veteran face 52 shots on target across his 18 Serie A appearances, saving 36 of them, leaving him with a save percentage of 69.2%. Only six other goalkeepers in the division have lower percentages.

Despite being hailed for an “outrageous” penalty save in the past by journalist Carlo Garganese, Szczesny’s overall performances this season have earned him a rather underwhelming rating of 6.72/10 from WhoScored, leaving 13 other Juventus players with higher ratings than him.
That said, only nine Serie A goalkeepers (min. 13 appearances) can boast a higher average performance rating.
Taking everything into account, we don’t feel that this would be a no-brainer deal for Spurs to try and secure this summer, especially if it would take a significant financial offer to do so.
Also, from the fans’ perspective, having a former Arsenal player who is in his thirties and hasn’t been in the best form this season may not make him a hit with the supporters.
