Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly shown an interest in securing a summer transfer deal for Barcelona winger Ferran Torres.

Despite there currently being some doubts surrounding Antonio Conte and his future at Spurs, it has been revealed that one player is on the club’s radar for the upcoming summer transfer window, but under the guise of potentially seeing a new manager come through the door first.

According to a recent report from Calciomercatoweb (via Sport Witness), Spurs have come forward to express their interest in signing Torres.

The report also adds that this move is said to be related to the possibility of having Luis Enrique in charge next season after recently being linked with a move to the north London club to replace Conte.

Prior to joining Barcelona, the winger made 43 appearances for Manchester City across all competitions where he scored 16 goals, delivered four assists and won the Premier League and the Carabao Cup.

During his time with City, Pep Guardiola described Torres, who is currently picking up a weekly wage of £168k per week, as an “exceptional” player in terms of his attacking numbers.

In December 2021, the Spaniard joined Barcelona for an initial fee of £46.3m and has since gone on to make 59 appearances for the Spanish club, finding the net 12 times and providing seven assists.

Even though he’s appeared in 33 games for Xavi’s side this season, the former City star has only found himself in the starting XI on 14 occasions.

This, therefore, could make the possibility of a return to the Premier League with Spurs a tempting proposition if he’s likely to have a better chance of playing regularly there.

Moving forward, given the situation surrounding Conte and his future, which will reportedly be sorted out with Daniel Levy in the summer, we feel that this will be the main focus for the club behind-the-scenes once the season ends before any thoughts can go towards potential transfers.
