Tottenham Hotspur reportedly have their eyes on Lecce midfielder Morten Hjulmand ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

While the north London club may have a bigger issue on their hands looking ahead to the summer in terms of their managerial situation, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding who the Lilywhites have been looking at for a possible transfer move.

Tottenham Hotspur fans, who were these players sold to? Starting with an easy one: Gareth Bale

According to a recent report from TuttoMercatoWeb (via Sport Witness) Paratici has sent scouts from Tottenham to watch Hjulmand in action over a period of time with an eye to making a potential summer transfer move.

The report also adds that Spurs and Borussia Dortmund, who are also interested in the player, could make an offer for the player, who has an apparent valuation of €15m (£13m).

The 23-year-old joined his current club from Austrian side Admira Wacker back in the 2021 January transfer window and has since gone on to make 85 appearances for Lecce across all competitions, supplying nine assists in the process.

This season has seen the Lecce captain play in all but two of their 27 Serie A games, across which he has racked up more passes into the final third of the pitch (100) and recoveries (186) than any other player at the club.

In addition to that, the Danish international has the highest combined total of tackles and interceptions (121) at Lecce, further highlighting how impressive he is in possession and out of it.

His overall league performances have earned the midfielder a season rating of 6.83/10 from WhoScored, making him the highest-rated player at the Italian club.

Do Spurs need to sign another midfielder this summer?

This backs up why journalist Alvaro Canibe described Hjulmand’s season as a “remarkable” one on Twitter and why Paratici has sent scouts to watch the player in action.

Moving forward, should the club feel the need to strengthen their midfield in the summer, signing the Lecce star for what is a fairly low price could be a smart bit of business.
