Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing a summer transfer move for Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni.

The Lilywhites have secured numerous players from Serie A in recent times since Antonio Conte took charge of the club.

Looking ahead to the next summer transfer window, it has been revealed that the Tottenham boss has his eyes on bringing another one of Italy’s top talents to the Premier League.

According to a recent report from InterLive.it (via Sport Witness), Spurs pose the greatest threat to Inter’s chances of securing a new deal for Bastoni, whose current contract at the Italian club is set to expire in the summer of 2024.

The report also adds that Spurs could make an offer for the defender this summer, especially if Conte ends up signing a new deal at the north London club, as the 53-year-old is apparently a big fan of the player.

It is also claimed that Spurs could offer €7m (£6.1m) per year to the centre-back.

Inter signed the centre-back during the 2017 summer transfer window from fellow Italian side Atalanta.

After completing two loan deals away from Inter, the 23-year-old has gone on to make 145 appearances for his current club across all competitions prior to today’s Serie A meeting against Lecce, chipping in with three goals and delivering 13 assists along the way.

This latest Serie A campaign has seen Bastoni, who has been hailed for his “superb” performances by journalist Josh Bunting, show how much of a capable player he is on and off the ball.

For example, across his 19 appearances, the Italian has the third-highest number of passes into the final third of the pitch (87) at Inter, as well as having the second-highest combined total of tackles and interceptions (51).

In addition to that, to further highlight his defensive strength, only one other outfield player at Inter that has been involved in more than two aerial duels has racked up a higher percentage of aerial duels won than Bastoni (70%).

Bearing in mind how only six clubs have conceded more goals than Spurs this season (36), it’s understandable why they may want to bring in some defensive reinforcements this season, with Bastoni, in our view, being a solid transfer option.
