Newcastle United are reportedly one of the clubs interested in signing Marcus Thuram during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Tyneside club have shown how capable they are when it comes to spending money to bring new players to St. James’ Park such as Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon among others.
Looking ahead to the next summer transfer window, it has been revealed that the Toon are looking at bringing another player to the club, but one that isn’t going to require a significant transfer fee to sign.
According to a recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) Newcastle are one of the clubs, alongside Bayern Munich and Inter, interested in signing Thuram this summer.
With his contract at Borussia Monchengladbach set to expire in the summer, the attacker is apparently going to make a decision about his next club in April.
During his time at the German club, the Frenchman has made 128 appearances across all competitions, scoring 43 goals and delivering 26 assists along the way.
This season has seen the 25-year-old score 15 goals in 26 games in all competitions, with 12 of those goals coming across his 24 Bundesliga appearances.
In addition to that, Thuram has the highest average of shots per game (3.2) in the entire Bundesliga, as well as having the second-highest overall performance rating at Monchengladbach (7.1/10) according to WhoScored.
Would you be happy to see Newcastle sign Marcus Thuram this summer?
Described as a “physical phenomenon” who has a “great mix of strength, pace, movement, finishing and dribbling skills” according to talent scout Jacek Kulig, the Monchengladbach star would clearly offer Eddie Howe’s side an extra slice of attacking power.
Bearing in mind how the Magpies have scored fewer goals in the Premier League this season (38) than the likes of Brentford (42) and Brighton & Hove Albion (42) among others, adding someone like Thuram would surely make Newcastle a deadlier outfit at the top of the pitch.
