Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly keen to add Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong to his squad during the next summer transfer window.

The Dutchman has not been reluctant when it comes to bringing new players to Old Trafford since being appointed as their manager.

Even though the next summer transfer window is still some months away from opening, the 53-year-old already has his eyes on a target to sign once the season ends.

In this quiz, we will take a look at who topped the club's scoring charts and when. First, who was United's top scorer this season?

According to a recent report from SportBILD (via Sport Witness), Ten Hag is determined to secure a deal for Frimpong this summer, which is expected to cost the Red Devils €60m (£52m).

Having spent some time in Manchester City’s youth ranks, the 22-year-old joined Celtic back in September 2019, where he went on to score three goals and deliver eight assists in 51 appearances before joining Leverkusen in the 2021 January transfer window.

Since then, the right-back has gone on to make 80 appearances for the German club across all competitions, scoring nine goals and supplying 18 assists in the process, highlighting how much of an attacking threat he carries and would be able to offer United.

Bearing in mind how United’s current right-back options of Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have only been able to provide two goal contributions between them in the Premier League this season shows why Ten Hag may want a more attack-minded full-back like Frimpong in his side.

Do Man United need to sign a new right-back this summer?

With seven goals and six assists to his name across 24 Bundesliga appearances this season, the former City youth figure has earned himself an overall performance rating of 7.16/10 from WhoScored, making him the second-highest rated player at the club.

In fact, that rating would also make him the second-highest rated player at United based on this league campaign behind Bruno Fernandes (7.34/10).

Labelled as “one of the best wing-backs in Europe” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, Frimpong would certainly be an exciting addition to the Red Devils’ squad and give Ten Hag an extra attacking dynamic in his side, which is why we feel the club should launch a move for the player in the summer and bring him back to Manchester.
