Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old joined Dortmund from fellow German club VfB Stuttgart back in the 2021 summer transfer window.

Since then, Kobel has gone on to make 65 appearances for his current side across all competitions, keeping 23 clean sheets along the way.

In this quiz, we will take a look at who topped the club's scoring charts and when. First, who was United's top scorer this season?

In the midst of his second season at Dortmund, the shot-stopper has found himself linked with a move to England.

According to a recent report from Blick, relayed by Fussball Transfers (via Sport Witness), United and fellow Premier League side Chelsea have Kobel on their radar.

It also stated in the article that the goalkeeper would be ‘capable of being one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League’.

This season has seen the Switzerland international feature in 25 games for Edin Terzic’s side in all competitions, across which he has been able to keep 12 clean sheets.

In fact, in the four Bundesliga matches he’s missed this season, Dortmund conceded eight goals, showing that they very much missed having Kobel in the team.

Across his 18 league appearances, the shot-stopper, who has been described as an “outstanding” player by Stefan Bienkowski, has faced 82 shots on target, saving 63 of them, leaving him with the fourth-highest save percentage in the division (76.8%).

Should Man United sign a new goalkeeper this summer?

No

His overall performances have earned the goalkeeper a season rating of 6.91/10 from WhoScored, making him the sixth-highest rated player at Dortmund, putting him above the likes of Mats Hummels (6.84/10), Marco Reus (6.78/10) and Youssoufa Moukoko (6.71/10).

This shows that he has what it takes to be a top goalkeeper and justifies why he has the likes of United and Chelsea looking at him.

In terms of a potential transfer move to United, the fact that current Red Devils goalkeeper David de Gea is set to see his contract at Old Trafford expire in the summer, it’s easy to see why the club could be looking at a player like Kobel to come in and be a potential replacement for the Spaniard should he end up leaving at the end of the season.
