According to a recent report from Football Insider, Liverpool are leading the race to sign Bellingham this summer, with the preferring a move to Anfield over any other English club.

The report also adds that Dortmund have opened talks with the midfielder over a new deal, and that the player still hasn’t decided if he wants to leave this summer.

Bearing in mind how the Reds have three midfielders out of contract in the summer, this highlights their need to potentially get some new players through the door this summer for that position should James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leave.

Since joining the German club back in the 202o summer transfer window, the 19-year-old has made 124 appearances across all competitions, scoring 20 goals and delivering 24 assists in the process.

This season has seen the midfielder prove why Dortmund are so keen to keep hold of him and why he has the likes of Liverpool and others scrambling to sign him this summer.

For example, across his 24 Bundesliga appearances, the teenager has the highest average of shots per game (1.9), dribbles per game (2.6) and tackles per game (2.6) at Dortmund.

His overall league performances have earned Bellingham a solid season rating of 7.5/10 from WhoScored, making him the highest-rated player in the division.

Jurgen Klopp has already shared his admiration for the Englishman by previously describing him as an “exceptional” player.

With the summer transfer window in mind, even though signing the Dortmund star would be a very expensive deal for the Reds to make, with the German club apparently looking to pick up over £130m for the midfielder, we feel that Liverpool should do all they can to secure his signature.
