Liverpool are reportedly likely to get rid of Joel Matip during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Roberto Firmino is set to leave the Merseyside club at the end of the season after deciding not to sign a new deal at Anfield.

It has now been revealed that the club could look to get another one of their long-serving players out the door in the upcoming summer transfer period.

According to a recent report from Football Insider, Liverpool are willing to offload Matip during the summer window and are planning to let clubs know that he will be available for sale.

The report also adds that the Reds could be willing to accept an offer of £10m-£15m for the centre-back.

Liverpool signed the Cameroonian on a free transfer from Schalke back in 2016 and have since seen him go on to make 184 appearances for the Merseyside club across all competitions.

During his time at Anfield, the 31-year-old, who is picking up a weekly wage of £100k-per-week, has scored 10 goals, provided six assists and won the Premier League and Champions League.

Should Liverpool sell Joel Matip this summer?

Having only started nine of the 11 Premier League games he’s appeared in this season and with him set to enter the final year of his contract this summer, it’s easy to see why the club are apparently looking to cash in on the defender.

Also, with his performances in the league earning Matip a rather underwhelming overall season rating of 6.33/10 from WhoScored, making him one of the lowest-rated players in Jurgen Klopp’s squad, this could also be why the club may want to move him out.

Moving forward, if the club are able to cash in on Matip in the summer and bring in a suitable replacement that can be a reliable and consistent long-term figure in the team, this could be a vital piece of business for Liverpool to make.
